Cooperation or collaboration among museums and aquariums is becoming increasingly more important today. However, it is always a challenge to cooperate with museums of different characteristics unless a common vision can be recognized by both parts. In 2006, the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium took the lead in coordinating 24 museums of different specializations and features in preparations for holding a joint six month festival-Museum Festival. The common vision-“Museum Makes Your Life More Beautiful” not only successfully set up platforms to allow each museum to demonstrate its best education programs and exhibitions by both a joint website and a joint live exhibition, but this festival also brought success for each partner museum in many ways such as museum marketing, recruitment and expansion of museum members and so on. In total, this festival attracted nearly 20,000 people to its live festival exhibitions in one week and more than 150,000 persons visited the festival website over the six month period. In this presentation, we would like to share both the strategies and creative ideas applied in the process in coordinating different museums resulting in bringing about a successful outcome in cooperation between aquariums and museums.
