The Museum of Nature and Human Activities, Hyogo

The Museum of Nature and Human Activities, Hyogo started Outreach Education (called “HITOHAKU kids’ caravan”) in 2002 to propagate the activities of the museum (exhibitions, seminars, collections and researches by curators). For preschool children and school children, “HITOHAKU kids’ caravan” began in 2011 to increase scientific literacy. In this program, we regularly hold orientation for staff (kindergarten teachers, nursery school teachers, parents etc.). We visit sites in advance and collect local plants and rocks for the program. By using these local natural materials, the program becomes more familiar for children. In addition, local persons of advanced years (students of senior college and its graduates) participate in the program and help us to work.
Through these experiences, they bond with children which will help guide them in the future.
