Introduction to Nature Play for Zoos, Aquariums, and Museum Educators.

In the past few decades, there has been increased attention on the role that direct contact experiences with nature have on children’s emotional, physical, and social development, including their development of environmental awareness and ethics. One particularly promising area of research focus has been the beneficial impact of nature play. Participants in this workshop will explore nature play methods and activities through hands-on practice and small group discussions. The emphasis will be how to provide effective programs and environments that increase young children’s opportunities for play, exploration, and discovery in nature.
